Patrick McHenry

Patrick McHenry is a former Member of Congress from North Carolina and one of the leading Republican voices on U.S. financial and economic policy. McHenry played a central role in shaping modern financial regulation and advancing innovation-driven policy during his tenure in the House of Representatives. He gained national prominence in 2023 when he served as Acting Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives during a pivotal period of legislative transition.

As a senior member of the House Financial Services Committee, McHenry focused on modernizing financial regulation to keep pace with technological change. He chaired the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee, overseeing the Federal Reserve, Treasury Department, Securities and Exchange Commission, and other financial regulators. He was also a principal architect of landmark legislation including the Financial Innovation and Technology (FIT) for the 21st Century Act and the Clarity for Payment Stablecoins Act, which sought to establish clear, balanced regulatory frameworks for digital assets and emerging financial technologies.
